Cenotes and Underground Rivers Tours
The word Cenote comes from the Mayan word "tz'onot", which means Sacred Well. The ancient Mayans believed that the Cenote were the gateway to Xibalbá, where the deads came back to life. Needless to say, that was a sacred place to enter and only advanced warriors we're allowed in after a special ceremony from the Shaman. Cenotes we're often used for ceremonial and sacrificial events throughout Mayan history.
There are 4 types of Cenotes : cavern, younger Cenote, open Cenote and dry Cenote.
